Next Quarter

Based on what we have heard from informal conversations with various PJCCers, we came up with some possibilities for next quarter.

First, the basic idea we hear often is that the group could focus more on two or three particular issues. Some of the topic options include: immigration/labor, Middle East/Iraq war, food/ecology.

Second, assuming that 1. the group will focus on two or three of these topics, and 2. there are four weeks in a month, then there are two options for how we might format next quarter.

Option 1: We meet as one group once per week. Week 1, general meeting; Week 2, Topic A; Week 3, general meeting (or Topic C if we choose three foci); Week 4, Topic B…

Option 2: We meet as one group once or twice per month, and we form subcommittees based on the various topics. Week 1, general meeting; Week 2, subcommittees; Week 3, subcommittees; Week 4, subcommittees… The subcommittees would be responsible for determining their meeting times and places, and the co-chairs would help with booking rooms, advertising, or any other way we could help.

After Week 4 of the month, then the “cycle” would resume beginning with Week 1. O f course, the quarter contains ten weeks, so the first and last weeks could be general meetings. We want to know what y’all think, so please respond with any and all thoughts, feelings, or requests for clarification. God bless!
